Allyson graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2010 with her bachelors degree in Microbiology, B.S. As an undergraduate she worked in 2 labs interested in understanding the mechanisms of pre-mRNA splicing and the components involved in this complex cycle. She also completed a summer fellowship program at UT Southwestern Medical Center studying T-B cell interactions and proximal T cell receptor (TCR) signaling components, including Lck. She joined the Tang lab in the summer of 2011 for her thesis project studying the antigen recognition, commitment, and stabilization of regulatory T cell subsets in the autoimmune prone mouse model of type 1 diabetes, the NOD mouse.
